I just purchased the Continental Extreme Contact DSW 06 Plus tires to replace my Kumho Ecsta PS31 tires that have roughly 50,000 miles on them. Sorry for the bad grading, Adobe did not play nice

Nexen Winguard Winspike 3 Tire Review 4K
Hey man, you must change your camera angle, it's a nice comparisson, only the skiing videos are strange. And you should charge a littlebit more, so that you can feel the limitations of those skiies.
Hey i’m a little late but i was wondering if i can work on my butters on this board, i heard it was pretty stiff
I don’t really have any issues doing Tail or Nose Butters. If you watch Erro Ettala or however you spell he’s name lol he does it. Also Zeb Powell used to ride this board when he was on Nitro. I actually feel like it’s more stable when you really press into it. Boards that are too soft tend to slide out easier or snap. If you can try before you buy that’s always an option. Some shops do that.
I live in NY but fuck winter. I hate having to wake up 30 mins early for work everyday to scrape snow off my car in 5 degree cold and then commute 45 mins in a car with a broken heater
To each their own. I don’t mind it.
Just bought a 2024 XC90 B5 and love it!
Nice review! Thanks ima buy me a set
Yeah they were really good tires.
im new to this... im 191 cm 90 kg do you reccomend this board? thank you
If you’re new to the sport it will feel like you’re fighting it, but it will actually help you carve better and ride correctly. I would recommend it, but in a 155 or bigger. Also if you are not planning on doing park, look for an All Mountain board like the Nitro T1 model or Team Pro.
That happened to my wife’s Volvo c30 1,6 turbo 2011 model
For the price they are not bad at all.
I do not reccomend studs for 90% of people because most of the time they are actually putting you at a disadvantage. The studs do interfere with regular dry& snow driving. Only when roads are ice do they help which in comparison isnt as often by a lot. its really not THAT big of a deal unless you have a steep driveway thats always iced over. Just my .02.🤷♂️
I agree with you, it depends on your needs. They really do help in ice though! 👍
@SterlingSigurdsen I live in the north east (ice coast) and used to stud my winter tires lonnng ago. It's just so infrequently in those conditions that I never even consider it anymore. This season I was gonna use all seasons (18 wrx 6mt) after having a dedicated summer (ps4s)and winter set (blizzak ws90& hercules avalanche rt) the ps4s are awesome but going through a set every year got sick of spending that $$ and tried to save on both. Well, we just got weather and the all seasons suck 😅😅 so here I am, looking at independent review vids 😃 hahahahah These and general altimax artic are on the table. Don't wanna spend 1k on blizzaks. The hercules I got in an emergency for a good deal too, and those actually where quite good but anyways. About a $50 difference per tire. General being more $$. I think I'll give these a shot as it seems the general isn't quite a $200 better of a tire. If the hercules were good, these should be good too
@@clifford_2zero7I’ve actually had the General Altimax Artic R12s, and you’re right for the money they’re not better. You can actually find that same tread design in a cheaper brand but I cannot remember who makes them. These Nexens though are great and I just bought a set from Simple tire for $500 in a P235/55 R19 for my XC90. Sometimes you can find Nokian tires on sale at Priority Tires or Simple Tires for $150~<>. Hope you are able to find some at a good price. And I only stud because when I drive up or down the access road to Bolton it’s taking your life in your hands.
All wheel drive? Hockey player?
😂 I wish
It’s optional per Vida
Why do people suggest undoing the brake oil screw but no one ever does it.
Great drone footage. Been living and surfing right here forever.
Well done review! If you see this late thumbs up - how are they on cruddy potholed roads?
Can’t really say they were bad or good. Just like any performance tire with a Z rating. So pretty firm. Though I try to avoid potholes as they will crack rims and destroy suspensions. 😂
Love your review! Do you know if you can order just the light? I am thinking the clips on the light might break at some point.
I am not sure, but I imagine if you call Cannondale they should be able to send one out to you.
@@SterlingSigurdsen that’s what I was thinking. I’m gonna give them a call on Monday and I will post the results of what I find out. Once again, appreciate you reviewing this helmet.
Я взял их, у нас в Московии снег плохо убирают. Пока не ездил.
?
@@SterlingSigurdsen Ну... я взял эти шины, потому что в Московской орде снег плохо убирают.
Yes, please make the video of how to pop out the light and charge it. Thanks!
going to upload a video today on how to do this
@@SterlingSigurdsen Thanks! How to see the light video??
There is a quick release tab on the on the inside of the helmet. You’ll see it at the base of the point of the light. Pull it down toward the opening of the helmet and the light should pop out. Honestly, it pops out so easily. I’m afraid it might pop out too easily and pop out when I don’t want it to.
😂
Kinda like kids playing down the block when there's no real ski area around.
All those rocks! This is why I fly to Utah.
The real triple blacks are at Mad River. These kids, nice way to ruin the bottoms of maybe expensive skis their parents bought.
MRG isn't that challenging, unless you're in Octopus garden. There's only a few true Double Blacks.
@@Colbyobrien378 Paradise?? There's only a few trails in total. But the couple that are double blacks, are really double black+. Most surveys of most challenging trains in east include Mad River.
Misleading video title
OK that's a rock not a cliff
Lol it east coast cliff size. haha. actually higher up is the real cliff that I watched them hit still impressive to me as these kids were like 8-14
Planning on getting these for my miata how they holding up? Are they solid in the rain
Yeah they seemed to do well in evacuating the water from the tires. I am not sure as your car is a lot lighter than mine, but I imagine in the correct size for your car they should do well. They have a lot of grip in the corners and accelerating.
@@SterlingSigurdsen Glad to finally find a tire that has good reviews in the wet that isn’t continental extremecontacts 😀
You’re a bum
hi do you know how to charge it? does the light pop out so i can charge it?
Yes the light pops out from the inside out. There is a tab you push down on to pop it out. I can make a video of this if need be.
i would appreciate a video very much! i’m having trouble figuring it out on my own. thank you for your speedy reply!🧡🚲
@@nyjahc6496 i am uploading the video today to show how to do this. I know it is a pain as it feels like you will break it.

Surf forecast for Florida and Puerto Rico continues to be flat through February 4th, so skiing is the better way to spend time this winter
Yeah for sure
@@SterlingSigurdsen I’m juggling a flight ✈️ Puerto Rico on the 2nd surf forecast is 7 feet on Surf Captain and 5 foot on Surf forecast and 4 feet the next day but only if I can find cheap last minute tickets
up next, dont ever rest goggles on top of a helmet
youre right it wears them out quicker
not sure why not, if the guy below is right than okay, i just don't care that much about my googles as I always get new ones ever season. I have not heard of a reason why not to put them on my helmet though.
@@SterlingSigurdsen putting them on your helmet also makes them fog up easier too. I hate being blind with foggy goggles. That’s the biggest issue.
@@TaylorPhase ah okay, yeah i never had that issue from my helmet, more from just breathing
step 1: buy full tilts
lol very true probably the easiest boots to put on. That is what my friend rides.
Hey man, your video randomly popped up in my recommends and I'm super glad it did, I just did that peel method and holy shit it is so much easier. Thank you very much!
Glad it helped. Thanks for the comment
This November to January has been really bad at NSB. Captain 16 day forecast is bad. Same for Sebastian, Reef Road and even Puerto Rico best days have been 4 to 5 feet. Lot of 7 to 10 foot forecasts that ended up 3 to 4 feet
Happy New Year 🎆
I’m stuck home with the flu and Santa Cruz is 30 foot Mavericks is 40 to 60 and most of California is 12 to 33 feet this week from San Diego to San Francisco
Sweet!
My last ski 🎿 trip was Lake Tahoe I might go to Whistler this year. I can ski black diamond but I figured out it’s better to hone my fundamentals on blue rather than racing to hit black especially in poor conditions
yeah for sure. plus most blacks are just meh. i like cursing.
Kelly Slater has an interview with Ariel Helwani {spelling} asking about his Jujitsu and MMA opinions and he throws some shade on Florida surf conditions LOL but I’m hoping for clean 4-6’ next month into March cross fingers. Meanwhile Santa Cruz CA where I moved from to Florida is 12 feet clean this week
I’ve been surfing since the 80s as a teen and skiing since the 90s during college but once war on terrorism happened I haven’t put much time in either until recently. Good to see someone skiing ⛷️ not just snowboarding 🏂 although I like them all a foundation in skiing is good
Compared to my trips in California Vermont seems way more icy ❄️
it is crazy icy one day, powder the next, and then melting slush with rain. you never know what's in store.
@@SterlingSigurdsen enjoy it all, when I think about it, a day skiing ⛷️ is better than what most days are for everyone else in winter. Have fun 🎿
Giving a like for all the effort put into the videos
thanks man appreciate it.
Sorry about the wind noise to music. I am trying Adobe Premiere Pro to edit video and the learning curve is huge compared to FCPX
I am also considering them for 7J rims on a European Fiat Stilo 1.6. Dimension 205/50R17. I just want to avoid 215/45R17 due to increased fuel consumption in the highway as well as the increased cost of the tyres. How do they hold up? I've heard some people say that they crack fast.
I have had them for the spring through fall up here in Vermont, and had no issues with them. Not sure what people mean they crack fast, as tyres usually only crack once they reach a certain age and are not really cared for. I think the original warranty is 4 years and 50k miles.
@@SterlingSigurdsen I want to fit them because most people don't find the newer Kumho PS71 that good, many have balancing issues etc. I find it strange that many report that the PS31 is better in braking than Cinturato P7 while on the latest tests Kumho PS71 comes as worst than the P7. And I cannot find any independent review of the Kumho PS31 whatsoever (e.g. Autobild). If you have anything that compares it head-to-head with any other known tyre let me know. I found a June 2023 batch of the PS31 (one of the last if I'm not mistaken as the tyre is seemingly being discontinued).
@@xynostasos9022 I find them better than my previous tyres which were the cooper ultra s asymmetrical tyres. These felt way better in the rain and dry than those. The only other really good tyre brand for the money would be Nexen than Falken. Beyond those you start to push into Goodyear tyres, Perelli, and Bridgestone price points. On a side note, most tyres are made by the same manufacturer and just market them under a different name. So maybe look into which subsidiary brands are made by Kumho.
Hey Thanks Great review. I live in NEK Vermont on Canada Border, We get some serious snow up on this Mountain. I'm going to buy a set. I'll post to you how they work out on my F150 4x4. So far I'm sold on them. If they do well in our Great State of Vermont, They will do extremely well anywhere else for sure. Great video and Great content 👍.
look forward to hearing how they work for you. my friends put them on their Volvo V60 Cross Countries and seemed to be doing well so far this year.
Hello there, how did these tires work out for you? I am in Canada and am thinking of placing these on my Ram 1500 Sport (22 inch). Thanks!
@@jaredfofonoff7615 They would be great on a Ram 1500, Absolutely. I have them on my F150 two years and loved them Just bought my second set. They are great in the Vermont snow.
where did you get the studs to put in the tire?
VIP tires here in Vermont. They do sell them pre-studded
HOW THEY PERFORM IN DRY AND WET BRAKING.
I would say pretty well, but I am driving a Volvo, and Volvos have really good handling to begin with.
Dry is great but wet can get sketchy without abs
Are they directional or non directional?
Yes they are directional.
What do you think about Nitro Beast X Volcom 2023? Are they similar? I have been thinking to get it for myself. I am an intermediate rider
same exact board, just a Volcom graphic on it. These are really good boards, and I will say pair them up with Team bindings and boots if you plan on staying mostly in the park, if you plan on doing some more all mountain, then step up to the team pro bindings and boots. It will be more responsive to your inputs.
Thank you brother for taking time to respond. Did you find it too stiff, they describe it 8/10, you said on the video that it goes more for medium than stiff. I am progressing on the rails and jumps but I like all mountain style too
@@douglaskiokawa7002 yeah it is not crazy stiff like some of the Rome and Burton boards with Carbon reinforced rods. This board is made to be pressed when hitting the down rails.
Hi, thanks for your video. Can you tell me if the Winguard's sipes are full depth, ie. the same depth as the tread blocks? This is sort of important as the way many tire companies kinda "cheat" is by designing 1/2 depth sipes, thus, giving reduced performance way before the main tread is worn. I've never used Nexen before, and my old Toyota has fewer 14" snow tires to choose from every year. Nexen still makes a 195/70 14 Winguard snow, so I need to know if they'll have less performance prematurely. No problem if you are unsure. Just thought I'd ask.
They do follow the whole tread depth to the depth indicator bar. Really good tires, especially if you stud them too.
@@SterlingSigurdsen Thanks so much, really! You were the only one that actually knew out of 6 other reviewers of this tire.
